Kitchener Waterloo Masters Slo-pitch League

2021 Season Message

Consistent with Step 3 of the Ontario Provincial Re-opening, we are able to function almost like normal with our shortened season in 2021.  We will operate with 9 teams instead of our usual 11, and we will observe the Protocols as listed in our Covid-19 Policy document.

Followup Message, August 7, 2020:

We are pleased to be back on the field with a shortened season that began August 6 with 2 games.  We will continue with 6 teams this season, divided into 2 divisions (to adhere to Provinicial law on recreational team sport in Stage 3).  Final games will be played the week of Sept 14, with each team playing 12 games.

In order to follow local and provincial guidelines, we have distributed and published our league protocols for minimizing exposure to Covid-19 during our games. In addition, we have enabled the features in our website (powered by TeamLinkt) that will enable contact tracing for our games.  We have been encouraged by the thoughtful approach taken our governments and public health to help us get back on the field (although there have been moments of frustration in there too).

We hope our entire league family stays safe and healthy through this pandemic.  For those playing, follow the protocols and have fun.  For those taking this year off, enjoy whatever you are doing that replaces slo-pitch this year, and we hope to see everyone back for a full league season in 2021.

Original Message, from early May, 2020:

Our league supports the efforts being made by our various levels of government to mitigate the effects of the Coronavirus, and as such, all in person meetings, games, events for our league are postponed until further notice. The league executive continues to meet via email and skype to make sure we are ready when in person activities are once again safe.

As such, our Spring Training Event has been postponed until further notice.

The League Schedule will be not be released until confirmation has been received that diamonds will be opened.  Currently, there is no indication when the diamonds could be re-opened.  Our diamonds are governed by the Township of Woolwich guidelines and by the closing of the Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club due to the Essential Services ruling currently in place across the province.

Our league remains positive that there will be a season for us this year.  With that in mind, all returning league players are encouraged to submit their registration for the 2020 season if they haven't already.  This will give the league an indication of whether all teams are viable for the season.  We will require all players to be paid in full when the season does start.  If the season is shortened, which seems likely, a pro-rated portion of player fees will be credited to the 2021 season or, if the player prefers, a refund can be made upon request.
